Eight hours a day consuming media?

Do you think anyone actually sees your ad?

A headline today should rattle every business owner that purchases advertising (according to ZenithOptimedia), their report states “We now spend more than eight hours a day consuming media”. The article goes on to say,

“If you weren’t reading this article, you would probably be scanning something else on the internet, watching TV, or maybe—just maybe—reading a newspaper or magazine. In short, you would be consuming media.”

The point is not whether this is good or bad, only that this environment of unrelenting media that surrounds us makes it virtually impossible to focus on one particular thing. If you are an advertiser you have to wonder if the people you are trying to reach have any chance of seeing your ad.

Most media is just noise

We seem to have evolved in such a way that permits us to go about our day filtering out this noise, but our antenna tingles when we hear or see something that is of some interest. People search online when they want to solve a problem, get information, or want to buy something.
